Sandy Smith is active in his community and is engaged in community service in education and healthcare. He believes that by giving back to the community, he can make a difference in the lives of others. Smith is the Board Chair for the Institute for Research in the Social Sciences at Stanford University (IRiSS) and on the advisory board of the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR). He received his degree from Stanford University, and later served as a Trustee of Stanford University. Smith is a Trustee of the Rabun Gap Nacoochee School, Founder and Trustee of Odyssey Atlanta and is on the Board of Advisors for the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. Smith was the Trustee for The Paideia School and the Columbia Seminary. He also served on the Alumni Board of The Westminster Schools, and The Martin Luther King Papers Project.
